Which SIM card do I need?
Any standard NZ SIM — Spark, Vodafone, or 2Degrees all work. You'll need a data plan; a basic prepay data SIM does the job. SIM card is not supplied.
How much data does it use?
Depends on how many photos and clips it sends. A photo-only setup on a busy camera uses roughly 1–2GB per month. You can control which photos get sent via the app so you're not burning data on blanks.
Can I still use it without a SIM?
Yes — it works as a standard SD card camera without a SIM inserted. You just won't get remote photo delivery.

I like these cameras, I have two. I signed up to the LinckEazi cloud service with AI recognition on the basic plan. The cameras work really well, but the LinckEazi cloud platform is frustrating.
Camera positives:
- It's really good under certain conditions. Heavy rain or foliage inside 2-3 meters triggers it, because it works on both heat and motion
- Great resolution and performance. I'm surprised it doesn't pick up mice because it picks up anything bigger than a cat
- Individual frames of video in the daytime make it an excellent security camera. Number plates really stand out and it's got a pretty good microphone too.
- You can get a signal extender for it, but the area I use it in has marginal coverage but the camera's signal strength is typically stronger than my mobile all by itself.
Camera negatives:
- Camera can give a lot of false positives in the rain or when there is foliage waving around in the wind. 42 triggers on a wet night fills up my inbox pretty fast. They tend to trigger when the subject is in the centre of the frame, which is a pain if you're using these cameras for security purposes and you're trying to video a car or something moving at speed.
- Switching the PIR setting to low sensitivity makes for grainy pictures at night. Apparently these UOVision cameras use the low setting for cold days/nights and the high setting for hot days/nights. High PIR setting blows out number plates.
- Only works with Spark (couldn't make it work with Skinny or OneNZ). Works great on an account if everything's bundled together, otherwise it gets pricey on the data.
- It needs better mounting options for buildings.
A general moan about the LinckEazi cloud platform:
- Although I realise that the platform is not part of the camera per se, I'm including this because it was part of the appeal of getting this particular model. Their basic AI plan keeps recognising my letterbox as a boar and my parked car as a ... yep a vehicle.. and when I finally found their support email ([****]) I was told "You could switch off the AI recognition function in the page settings->AI settings." which kinda renders their whole AI plan I just paid for completely useless.
- The interface is clunky, but useable - turning it on and off requires a creative understanding of how 'work time' operates. LinckEazi connectivity is great but the AI recognition is totally random.
- It has as a minor software bug that doesn't let me share my video on my android easily (apparently works better on a Mac, but hasn't had a software upgrade for a while. Support, needless to say, was pretty terrible.
Overall it gets 4 stars because the LinckEazi cloud platform is part of the appeal, and although I'm critical of it, I can see how it could still work well for use cases that aren't mine.
I got really good advice from Hunters New Zealand, and if I was reviewing them they'd get 5 stars.
Great camera so far, easy to set up. Make sure that you get sim card activated as this was only problem I had. Great service from supplier, went through everything over the phone with me. Very happy with it all.
It seems to be working well though it’s in a low density area at the moment so I’m not getting much activity
